LEADING BOISE'S CAN-DO SPIRIT

WHY I AM RUNNING TO SERVE YOU

I am excited to run for another term for the Boise City Council. It is an honor to represent our citizens. I believe my knowledge and experience, especially in transportation, land use and the accompanying growth issues will be a valuable asset in helping guide the city toward solutions in this time of high growth. If I have the privilege of being re-elected, I pledge to give my best efforts to these priorities:

·  With the Boise can-do spirit find a permanent and dedicated source of funding for expansion of our transit system. This will lead us to a transportation system that is first class, will help drive 21stcentury economic opportunity for all citizens of Boise.

·  Developing a more complete economy that includes a more robust industrial sector supporting middle class jobs. Working in partnership with all interests to get more housing built so our citizens have a place they can afford to live.

What is a Can-Do Attitude?

·  With the Boise can-do spirit, I will find a permanent and dedicated source of funding for expansion of our transit system.

· Continuing to strengthen our neighborhoods by keeping up with demand for city facilities, supporting strong neighborhood services and continuing our efforts for strong community policing and public safety.

Connecting Boise

Boiseans should be able to vote to fund the quality transit services our city needs to succeed in the 21st century. As your City Council member, I will continue to ask the legislature for that right. In the meantime, I will continue to search for ways to support the robust transportation choices that you deserve.

BOISE’S DIVERSE ECONOMY NEEDS JOBS + HOUSING

For over a decade, I have been working to diversify and strengthen our economy by increasing jobs and wages for all Boiseans. Our next challenge is building industrial capacity and developing the workforce these employers need. Hand in hand with jobs is a place to live and I am committed to increasing support for housing that affordable for our workforce through Boise’s “Grow Our Housing” initiative.

BUILDING STRONGER SAFER NEIGHBORHOODS

The city was deficient in fire and police facilities, libraries, parks and other government buildings when I was first elected. Since then, we have developed over 15 park sites, built four branch libraries, built or rebuilt six fire stations and added a police and fire administration building. Our work is not complete. I am running for re-election to lend my experience and knowledge in this time of high growth to ensure we don’t leave deficiencies in the future.

"I am proud to endorse Elaine Clegg because she is a person of integrity and an excellent leader. As Boise grows, we need a steady hand to guide us to solutions for our city's challenges, including funding public transportation, providing affordable housing, and diversifying Boise's economy. As a city councilwoman, Elaine has been a responsible and reasonable voice for our city, and I believe has earned four more years. Please vote on November 5th for Elaine Clegg"

Tim Flaherty, President of the DBNA

"I believe we should judge our candidates for public office by how they treat every person, but especially how they treat those without the ability to make their voice heard as easily as others. I’m thinking about the working poor, the homeless and so many other marginalized groups. This year I’m sticking with Elaine Clegg "
